Music Ministry at Seaside UMC

Music is an essential part of our ministry here at Seaside United Methodist Church.  Our outstanding choir assists in worship leadership at each of our Sunday worship services.  In addition, more than a dozen vocal and instrumental ensembles are in regular rehearsal to grace our services (some also participate in community events).  Three major musical events combine all of our musical forces and draw enormous crowds from all around South Brunswick County.

Robert Overman, Director of Traditional Music, and all of us here at Seaside invite you to consider participating in one of our music ministries.  Even if you don’t sing, there may be a place for you behind the scenes, enabling the ministry in any of a number of ways.

Hand Bells

Our Hand Bell Choir offers music in our Traditional Worship services about once per month playing the Prelude, Anthem and Offertory for our 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services. Rehearsals are held September through May on Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m. New members are always welcome. Contact Robert Overman, Director of Traditional Music, for more information.

Joyful Noise

Children ages Kindergarten through 5th Grade are welcome to participate in our Joyful Noise Children’s Choir. Each Wednesday evening from 4:30 - 5:15 p.m. throughout the school year our director, Nancy Cork, and a team of volunteers teach the children the important lessons of Scripture through music as well as through various projects, crafts and other guest teachers. Contact the church office for more information.
